Paige and Daniel Zezulka of Athens, Georgia embarked on a journey to become foster parents, which led them to 5-month-old Kai. Little did they know that this was just the beginning of their remarkable story.
After fostering Kai, Paige and Daniel later discovered he had siblings – 10-year-old Ivey and soon-to-be-born Lita. The decision to adopt all three siblings was a pivotal moment for the Zezulka family.
Despite anticipating challenges, the transition of bringing Ivey and Lita into their family was surprisingly smooth. The siblings quickly embraced their new home and were eager to be a part of a loving family.
On August 23, 2018, the Zezulka family officially adopted Ivey, Kai, and Lita, solidifying their bond as a forever family.

The Challenges of the Foster Care System
While the Zezulka family’s story is heartwarming, the foster care system is not without its flaws. Often focusing on reunification, many children endure years in the system without a permanent home, facing uncertain futures.
Paige highlights the struggle faced by older foster children, emphasizing the importance of providing stability and support for these vulnerable individuals.
With over 400,000 children in foster care in the US, the need for loving homes and supportive families is evident. The Zezulka family’s adoption of all three siblings showcases the positive impact of sibling bonds on a child’s well-being and sense of belonging.
As stories like this inspire change in the foster care system, more children may find the safety and love they deserve in permanent homes.
