Olivia Colton, a former U.S. Army officer, transitioned from military service to pursuing her passion for the natural sciences by enrolling in Columbia’s Master of Science in Sustainability Science program. While working at the Tree Ring Lab, she organized thousands of cross-section tree samples from around the world. Colton’s experience in the military and at Columbia has prepared her to work on various sustainability initiatives post-graduation. Her advice to students is to get involved and explore different classes and opportunities both on campus and in the city.
