In the South Bronx, two neighborhoods, Mott Haven and Port Morris, are plagued by waste facilities, power plants, and highways, leading to high levels of asthma and other health issues among residents. South Bronx Unite is working to combat environmental racism by promoting community access to green spaces and the waterfront.

South Bronx Unite led a field trip for the Columbia M.P.A in Environmental Science and Policy cohort, showcasing the impact of pollution on their community. Despite past challenges, the organization continues to fight for clean air and access to green spaces to improve residents’ quality of life.

By advocating for environmental justice and sustainable policies, South Bronx Unite and the MPA-ESP students aim to create a healthier and more equitable future for all.
