The donkey, later named Mike, faced a near-drowning experience when floodwaters stranded him in a ditch after a river overflowed. Thanks to the heroic efforts of Suzanne Gibbons from Animal Heaven Animal Rescue and a kind stranger, the donkey was saved just in time.
His Rescuer Shares the Events
“At first, I couldn’t find anybody willing to help me go in because the river was flooding really badly,” Suzanne recalled. “But finally, Mike Fleming of the Killorglin Rowing Club took me out and we managed to get a life ring around the donkey’s neck and drag him to safety.”

Following his rescue, Mike received care and monitoring at the rescue facility to ensure his recovery from the ordeal.
