A Career Move That Makes Me Teary

This past month, three women shared a career move that touched my heart…

They each have their childhood photo hanging in their offices. Why? It serves as a daily reminder to treat themselves with kindness and love, just as they would their younger selves.

Social strategist Peyton Dix displayed a baby photo above her desk to remind herself to be kinder and more forgiving to herself.

Illustrator Jordan Sondler keeps a preteen photo in her apartment to stay connected to her mission of helping others like her younger self.

Writer and mother Gabriella Llewellyn’s collage of childhood photos inspires her to make time for hobbies that bring her joy and keep her inner child happy.

After hearing their stories, I decided to try the same approach and set my childhood photo as my phone’s screensaver:

For the first few days, I felt embarrassed. But as time passed, seeing little me on my screen made me smile and reminded me to show myself love and kindness.

Do you display childhood photos? What about yourself do you take pride in?

P.S. An anxiety trick, and what are your three core values?
