Arava Power’s first US solar photovoltaic facility begins commercial operation in Uvalde County, Texas. It will provide clean energy for 43,000 homes in the San Antonio area.
Israel-based Arava Power has announced that SUNRAY, a solar photovoltaic project with a capacity of 270 megawatts, is now operational in Uvalde County, Texas.
The project, developed in partnership with Paz Group and Menora Mivtachim at a cost of $330 million USD, covers 1,200 acres and is expected to generate 515 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually. This will prevent 225,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions and power 43,000 homes in San Antonio.
50% of the generated electricity is sold under a power purchase agreement, with the remaining half sold on the Texas electricity market.
Co-Founder David Rosenblatt stated: “Project SUNRAY is the result of great partnerships with institutions globally. It demonstrates our commitment to clean energy development and management.”
