Enjoying a day at the lake turned tragic for the Free family when carbon monoxide poisoning struck during their outing on Lake Eufaula. Their youngest son, nine-year-old Andrew Brady, fell unconscious into the water and tragically lost his life. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas produced by burning fuel that can be deadly when it accumulates in the bloodstream. Boats powered by gasoline can pose a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, especially if passengers are near the rear of the vessel where exhaust vents are located. Symptoms of CO poisoning include headaches, weakness, dizziness, and more. It is important for boaters to be aware of the risks and take preventive measures to ensure the safety of all passengers on board. Sharing their story, the Free family hopes to raise awareness and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
