In the upcoming months, various extreme weather events such as heat waves, droughts, thunderstorms, and hurricanes are expected to impact regions worldwide. Climate scientists attribute the heightened intensity and danger of these events to the changing climate.

Forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predict an exceptionally high number of storms for the 2024 hurricane season, which began on June 1.

Exploring the reasons behind the worsening extreme weather and the role of climate change in exacerbating these events, Bill Loveless engages in a discussion with Radley Horton about the outlook for extreme weather this summer.

Horton, a professor at the Columbia Climate School specializing in climate extremes and adaptation, sheds light on the increasing intensity and severity of such events globally. With his expertise in climate risk assessment, Horton provides valuable insights into the measures being taken to adapt to this new reality.
