Yas Island is going to get powered by the sun
Emerge, a joint venture between Masdar and EDF Group, has successfully energized two major solar photovoltaic projects on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The projects are located at Yas Marina Circuit and Yas Bay Waterfront, both popular destinations for dining, entertainment, and leisure activities.
The solar car park at Yas Marina Circuit has a 1 MWp capacity and will generate around 30 percent of the circuit’s total annual energy demand. This is equivalent to powering nearly 200 households in Abu Dhabi and offsetting 900 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
Furthermore, Emerge has installed over 1,800 solar modules at Yas Marina Circuit and more than 900 modules at Yas Bay Waterfront, providing clean energy solutions for both locations. These projects will help power households, reduce CO2 emissions, and promote sustainability in Abu Dhabi.

Michel Abi Saab
Michel Abi Saab, General Manager of Emerge, highlighted the importance of these solar projects for promoting sustainability on Yas Island. The collaboration between Miral, Ethara, and Emerge demonstrates a commitment to clean energy and environmental responsibility in Abu Dhabi.
This latest initiative at Yas Bay Waterfront is part of a continued effort by Miral and Emerge to integrate renewable energy solutions into entertainment venues. The successful implementation of solar projects showcases the potential for sustainable energy practices in the UAE.
Emerge’s partnership with Masdar and EDF Group aims to develop innovative solar and energy storage solutions for commercial and industrial sectors. Their turnkey energy solutions provide clients with clean, renewable energy options without any upfront costs.
