This week, I had the pleasure of watching Babes, a film that is set to release tomorrow and is simply AMAZING. The story follows two best friends portrayed by Ilana Glazer and Michelle Buteau as they navigate pregnancy, childbirth, and their friendship. In a post-screening Q&A, Ilana shared, “I came from making Broad City with Abbi Jacobson, where we had so thoroughly described our 20s. Then my friends and I were in our 30s, and we started putting together a list of the funniest things we could, like the physicality of motherhood — your boobs, the horniness, all the shocking shit.” This movie had me laughing for 90% of the time and crying for the last 10%. It beautifully celebrates female friendship and the true love story it represents. Gather all the women you know and watch it in the theater.
