Neom is constantly expanding its mega-development projects, aiming to become the new high-tech destination of the Middle East with its extravagant residential housing and tourism projects. Among its various ambitious ventures, Jaumer stands out as the latest project built with oil money, showcasing what Saudi Arabia has to offer in competition with other progressive nations like the UAE. Jaumer is set to be a luxurious marina destination in Neom, the $500 billion USD ‘city of the future’, catering to the elite super-yachting lifestyle.
The exclusive residential community of Jaumer, planned around a marina on the Gulf of Aqaba, will accommodate over 6,000 residents. The marina will feature innovative architectural elements such as a monumental 1-mile high aerofoil providing protection for yachts, a gravity-defying cantilever serving as the entrance, and space for the world’s largest superyachts. An international school on site will offer a progressive education program delivered by a diverse faculty of experts.
Despite the promises of luxurious amenities and experiences, concerns arise about the impact of such developments on the environment, particularly in an area where coral reefs are threatened and marine life is at risk. The rapid urbanization and exploitation of natural resources raise questions about the sustainability and true benefits of projects like Jaumer.
