Cannabis packs picked up from the street. It rained cannabis one day in Tel Aviv.
If you walk the streets of Tel Aviv and Jaffa, the smell of burning cannabis is a common occurrence. While some countries like Canada have fully legalized medical marijuana and recreational cannabis, Israel, known for being the first to study and classify the molecular compounds in cannabis and hashish, may have seemed destined to follow suit. Professor Raphael Mechoulam, a chemist who extensively studied the medical applications of cannabis, was instrumental in this field. He identified over 100 molecules in the cannabis plant that contribute to its medicinal properties, noting the unique receptors in the human body that interact with these molecules.

Telegrass online network, connecting 3,000 drug dealers to more than 200,000 clients. Amos Dov Silver is the founder.
In 2015, the CannaTech conference was founded in Tel Aviv, drawing a large crowd eager to explore the potential of cannabis for medical and recreational use. While public cannabis consumption was somewhat tolerated, sales and cultivation were still illegal. Amidst this environment, the Telegrass online network emerged, connecting thousands of drug dealers to consumers efficiently.
Recently, Telegrass founder Amos Dov Silver was sentenced to eight years in prison following a plea agreement, as the network facilitated tens of thousands of drug transactions. Despite challenges, Israeli cannabis companies are expanding their operations, with some venturing into international markets like Greece to supply medical cannabis.
Though the road to full legalization in Israel has seen obstacles, the country has made progress in making medical cannabis more accessible and is preparing to become a major cannabis exporter. Initiatives like partial decriminalization have been introduced, aiming to handle offenders with fines and treatment instead of criminal prosecution.
