They may seem intimidating with their tough exterior, but trust me, they are worth it. Here’s a simple step-by-step recipe on how to prepare and cook artichokes perfectly.

How to Prepare Artichokes Before cooking, trim the artichokes by pulling off the leaves, cutting the top and stem, and scooping out the chokes. Soak them in cold water with lemon juice to prevent browning. Then it’s time to cook them!

How to Cook Artichokes Boil the artichokes for 20-30 minutes or steam them for 20 minutes until tender. Check for doneness by piercing the stem with a fork. You can eat them as is or grill them for extra deliciousness.

Artichoke Dipping Sauce Pair your artichokes with a flavorful dipping sauce like melted butter with chives, goddess dressing, mayo with lemon, or a sriracha yogurt lemon sauce. Enjoy!
