Homemade Pizza Dough Recipe

My Grandma Marie was known for her amazing homemade pizza. Every time we visited, she would make us her delicious pizza, even though we lived out of state. We loved helping her with the dough, and waiting for it to rise was always the hardest part. The best part about her pizza was that it was simple yet incredibly tasty. Learn how to make Grandma Marie’s pizza dough with this recipe!

Ingredients:

Warm water

Active dry yeast

Granulated sugar

All-purpose flour

Salt

Olive oil

Instructions:

Activate the yeast by combining water, yeast, sugar, and 1 cup of flour in a large bowl. Mix in the rest of the flour until a dough forms. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, then let it rise for 1 hour. Roll out the dough, transfer it to baking sheets, and let proof before adding toppings. Bake at 450ºF for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 375ºF and bake until crust is golden brown.

Tips and Tricks:

Proof pizza dough by letting it rise in a warm, dark place. Cook homemade pizza at 450ºF for 10 minutes, then lower heat to 375ºF. Do not need to bake pizza dough before adding toppings. Feel free to add toppings like pizza sauce, cheese, sausage, peppers, onions, and more.

Storage:

Leftover pizza can be stored in foil or a freezer-safe bag. Reheat in the oven at 350ºF for 5-10 minutes. Pizza dough can be frozen by drizzling with olive oil and placing in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
